What are Beaver Scouts?

Beaver Scouts is the youngest section of Scouting. This is where the adventure begins, with a strong focus on fun, friendship, and teamwork. While Beavers may be the smallest Scouts, they are just as adventurous and daring as the older sections!

Ages

Beaver Scouts are for children aged 6 to 8 (~Snr. Infants to 2nd class). This section is all about fun, exploration, and responsibility. Beavers learn new skills, enjoy outdoor adventures, and take on leadership roles within their groups.

Organisation

The Beaver section is called a Colony. The Colony is made up of several small teams called Lodges, each with about 5-6 Beavers. Each Lodge is led by two of the Beavers, called a Lodge Leader and an Assistant Lodge Leader, who guide and support the group. As the Beavers participate in activities, they learn responsibility, teamwork, and essential skills in a supportive and exciting environment.

What do Beavers do?

Beaver Scouts have an active program with weekly meetings and weekend events filled with exciting activities and skill-building challenges. The Beaver program includes:

Indoor Fun & Games

Weekly meetings typically include a mixture of active and quiet games, stories, creative crafts, singing, drama and nature study.

Outdoor Adventures

Amazing adventures such as nature walks, treasure hunts, and night orienteering.

Camping

Camping trips lasting one or two nights in tents, hostels, or Scout Dens.

What else do Beavers do?

Where we meet

We typically meet at Blackwater Parish Hall from 7 - 8pm on Fridays during school term.
Occasionally we may meet at other locations for special events or activities - this will always be communicated in advance via the parents' WhatsApp group.
